JACKSONVILLE – Col. George A. Houle, Jr., USMC Ret., 81, of Jacksonville, died Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Crystal Coast Hospice in Newport. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM on Friday at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel, with Brother Don Guldin officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
Col. Houle enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1955. He served 37+ years. He was given a wartime Commission of 2nd Lt in 1966, while in Vietnam. He served in the intelligence Field the majority of his Marine Corps Career. He retired in 1992 as a Colonel. Colonel Houle sends!
Col. Houle was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Theresa Apichella; and one daughter, Diana Lynn Houle.
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Anette Morgan Houle of Jacksonville; son, Mark John Houle of Williston; daughter, Janine Houle of Jacksonville; daughter, Christine G. Lee of Jacksonville; son William Sheehan of Folsom, CA; son, Anthony Sheehan of Seattle, WA; daughter, Bobbi-Jean Smith of Pompano Beach, FL; son Jason Keatts of Havelock; son, Robert Keatts of Norfolk, VA; three brothers; two sisters; seventeen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
