Obituary

Jacksonville – Gerald Robert Bisher, 85, of Jacksonville, North Carolina passed away on April 20, 2026, at his residence. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.

Mr. Bisher was born on July 6, 1940, in Lockport, New York to the late Harold Bisher and Lorraine Bedford Bisher. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Lloyd Bisher, Gregory Bisher, Muriel Killian, and Eleanor Bil.

He honorably served in the United States Navy from 23 December 1965 to 22 December 1971, earning numerous distinctions for his service, including the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, and National Defense Service Medal.

Following his military career, he built a successful profession as an Injection Mold Specialist with Harrison Radiator, where he dedicated many years before retiring in 1999.

A skilled craftsman, he had a deep passion for carpentry and spent countless hours in his workshop creating and building with pride and precision. He was also committed to giving back, generously supporting organizations such as St Jude, ASPCA, American Legion, and Wounded Warrior Project. Above all, he cherished time with his family. His greatest joy came from being with his children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories and a legacy of love, service, and dedication.

He is survived by his children, Julie Robertson (Warren) of Richlands, NC, Elaine Braggs (Myron) of Weirton, WV, Melissa Rudolph (Kenneth) of Hillsborough, NC, and Jeremy Bisher (Lacy) of Rockport, Texas; grandchildren, Ashley (Amanda) Delmage, Dejah, Domanique, Lydia, Kylie, Nicholas, Gavin, Mackenzie, Karis, Hollis, Alexandra, and Kenneth, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Eris, Holden, and Cody and brother, James Bisher.
