JACKSONVILLE  -  Isaac  Gerald Futrell, 85, of Jacksonville passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice LifeCare Center in Wilmington.  A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Pastor Damon Williamson officiating. Burial will follow at Onslow Memorial Park.

Gerald attended Wake Forest University for two years before graduating from Campbell University.  After years of dedicated service, he retired from Sprint as an electrical engineer.

Outside of work, Gerald enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  He was an avid fan of NC State University and never passed up an opportunity to go with his family to games.  His greatest enjoyment was traveling in his motorhome with his wife, Nelda.  Together, they travelled the entire North American continent with both of their families.  Along the way, they met many wonderful friends and made great memories.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Taylor and Louise Peedin Futrell; and a brother, Henry (Pete) Futrell.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Nelda Boswell Futrell of the home; his son, Dr. Stephen C. Futrell (Tammy) of Richlands; grandchildren, Austin Futrell (Emilee) of Durham and Chandler Futrell (Gabe) of Ann Arbor, MI; sister, Betty Ball of Wilson; and a  brother, Brantley Futrell of Jacksonville.

The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon, prior to the service, beginning at 12:30 PM at the church.
