JACKSONVILLE  -  Gerard Carr, 84, of Jacksonville, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Onslow Memorial Hospital. Graveside funeral services, with military honors, will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 16, 2024 at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

Mr. Carr was born December 14, 1939 in New York, NY and served 20 years in the United States Marine Corps as an Avionics Chief.  While in the service he completed three tours in Vietnam, provided secret service to several president's and finally retired as Master Gunny Sergeant. After the service he worked on Cherry Point, working on computers. Where he also retired.

In his later years after his military service and second retirement, he earned the title of professional tinkerer, always being able to fix anything. Some of his favorite things to do would be reading instructional manuals and watching YouTube videos, learning how to fix or alter his next project of choice. When he wasn't tinkering you could typically find him fishing, golfing, or simply enjoying a hot cup of coffee with a honey bun.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Betty Carr.

Survivors include his children, Robert Watters, Kathy Feeney, Danny Watters and David Watters; and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, December 15, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel.
