In Loving Memory of Gladys Elizabeth "Libby" Walker
Gladys Elizabeth "Libby" Walker, 71, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Fred Walker and Martha Epps Walker, and her beloved grandson, Dawson Bowman. There will be no services at this time.
Libby was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose greatest joy was her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, especially the time they shared together in the kitchen baking and watching movies with popcorn, Diet Dr. Pepper, Nerd Clusters, sushi, and snack cakes. Those sweet moments created lasting memories that her family will cherish forever. Her home was filled with warmth, love, and laughter.
Above all, Libby loved Jesus and lived her life with a quiet, steadfast faith. Her kindness, compassion, and gentle spirit reflected the love she carried in her heart. She found comfort in her faith and shared that hope with those around her through her words, her actions, and the way she cared for others.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory, including her children, David Battles (Amanda) of Jacksonville, Richard Bowman (Summer) of Holly Ridge, and Sarah Anderson (Chris) of Columbus, Georgia. She was the proud
grandmother of Jordan, Hunter, Makenna, Lillian, Hayleigh, Arianna, Nathan, Josie, Jayden, Conner, Kinsley, Annaleigh, Laura Lee, Jacob, Christopher, Brittany, and Madison, and the cherished great-grandmother of McKenzie.
She is also survived by her sisters, Reba Chunn and Claudia Flannery, both of Texas, and her brother, Rex Brooks of Alabama, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing her.
While her family grieves her passing, they rejoice in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ and find peace in knowing she is now in His presence. Libby's legacy of faith, unconditional love, and devotion to her family will continue to inspire all who knew her.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of those who loved her.
