Gladys Edens Wix, 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 13, 2025, at her home.  Preceded in death by her husband; Robert Elmer Wix, her parents; Oscar Solomon and Mamie Elizabeth Bell Edens, daughter; Debra Mearl Merritt and her brother, Oscar Earl Edens.  Ms. Gladys retired with Thompsons Restaurant and Old Landing Restaurant.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from Edens Family Cemetery in Hampstead at 2:00 pm. Rev. Kelly Wheat-Rivers will be Officiating.

Survivors include her daughter; Donna Morton of the home, sons; Claude Haywood Merritt, Jr. (Teresa), James Kenneth Merritt (Jean) both of Jacksonville and Tony Howard Merritt of Mt. Airy.  Eleven grandchildren, 13 Great grandchildren, 2 Great Great grandchildren, brothers George Edens (Sally) of Surf City, Bobby Edens of Hampstead and sister; Lois Dixon (Carl) of Wilmington.
