A Life Remembered

Glenn Edward Jones was born in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Eva Nell Jones and Edward Berry. A 1980 graduate of Thornton Township High School in Harvey, Illinois, Glenn went on to attend DePaul University with aspirations of entering medical school. He was a quiet, softly spoken man whose warm smile spoke volumes to those who truly took the time to know him. Glenn was a friendly & open person. As Mother says, “we never meet a stranger, we always greeting them with an open heart & mind.” He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

From an early age, Glenn was a remarkably talented artist. His passion for the Marvel Universe came alive through incredible freehand drawings; with just a pencil and his imagination, he could recreate complex, detailed superheroes entirely from memory. These sketches were more than just drawings; they were a beautiful expression of his vibrant inner world and boundless creativity. He loved traveling and lived in many states.

Glenn’s deep faith was foundational to his life. At a young age, he made his declaration of faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the Salvation Army Corps. He possessed a profound hunger for God that ran deeper than many knew. In his later months, a workbook on The Holy Spirit and His Gifts by Kenneth E. Hagin sat on his coffee table, a testament to his enduring devotion. He had brought it home from the Onslow County Senior Center, which he faithfully attended three times a week. The seniors there became his true community, providing him with cherished fellowship and social connection.

Glenn has stepped into eternity and is reunited with his parents, Eva Nell Jones and Edward Berry, and his sister, Paulette Brown.

His legacy of kindness lives on through his surviving siblings: Jewel Houston of Joliet, IL; Alton Jones (Valeria) of Decatur, GA; Vanessa Ervin (Jim) of Jacksonville, NC; Elvira Townsend (Randall) of Killeen, TX; and Yolanda Shores (Charles) of Killeen, TX; as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

Glenn will be laid to rest on July 30, 2026, at the Cedar Park Cemetery in Calumet Park, Illinois.
