Guadalupe Anzaldua Fitzer, 69, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, May 25, 2026.

A small memorial service will be held by her church family at River of Life Church in Jacksonville, North Carolina, this Saturday May 30, at 11:00 a.m. The church is located at 2460 Gum Branch Road, Jacksonville, NC 28540.

She was born on August 3, 1956, in Alice, Texas, to Gregorio G. Anzaldua and Dora Garza Anzaldua. She later married Jerry Fitzer, and together they made their home in Wichita Falls, Texas. Following his passing in 2000, she relocated to Jacksonville, North Carolina, in 2004.

Guadalupe devoted almost 20 years of service to MCCS Child Development, where she worked in childcare. She had a deep love for babies and children, and made a lasting impact on the many families she cared for throughout her career. She also enjoyed spending time at the beach, and cherished her church family deeply.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gregorio G. Anzaldua and Dora Garza Anzaldua; her brother, Johnny Anzaldua; and her husband, Jerry Fitzer.

She is survived by her children, April Rodriguez of Ruther Glen, Virginia; Priscilla Rivas of Wichita Falls, Texas; and Jerry Fitzer Jr. and his wife, Carmen, of Wichita Falls, Texas. She is also survived by her sisters, Margie Watson, Mary Loeffert, and Sylvia Uythoven; her brother, Felix Anzaldua; her grandchildren, Alexis Rodriguez, Sabrina Rodriguez, Laci Rodriguez, Selena Rivas, Angelina Rivas, Katrina Cooper, Valeria Fitzer, Jerry Fitzer III, and Nicholas Fitzer; her great-grandson, Kason; as well as many nieces and nephews.
