SWANSBORO  -  GySgt Robert E. Reilly, Jr. (USMC, Retired), 70, of Swansboro, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern. He was born September 30,1954 and grew up in Memphis, TN, the son of the late Robert E. Reilly, Sr. and Mary Janet McWhirter Reilly.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 17, 2025 at St. Mildred Catholic Church with Rev. Dave Miller officiating. The family will receive Sunday, February 16, 2025 from 6-8pm at Jones Funeral Home-Swansboro.

Robert faithfully served his country for 21 years in the United States Marine Corps and retired at the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of St. Mildred Catholic Church. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends along with traveling the world with his beloved wife and children. In his later years, he cherished time spent on his back porch enjoying the southeastern North Carolina weather and admiring the tranquil flow of the White Oak River.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Marian J. Mastrangelo; son, David M. Reilly of Swansboro, NC; daughter, Charlotte L. Price (Dennis) of Montgomery, TX; grandchildren, Athena, Aurora, Gunnar, and Emilia; and sisters, Sandra Ward of Jacksonville, Florida and Kathy Englund of Issaquah, Washington.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Corcoran.
