HOLLY RIDGE  -  On Tuesday, December 31, 2024, Franklin "Hank" Delano King passed away at the age of 90 in Holly Ridge, NC.

Franklin was born May 2, 1934, to the late Isaac "Ike" and Julia Bradshaw King in Boone County WV.  He was the last remaining of 8 children.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his half-brother Orvil; his four brothers Hershel, Virgil (Boots), Jerry, and Kenneth; and two sisters Lorena Clemans and Barbara Barker.

On December 24, 1960, Franklin married Norma Jean Gillispie King after returning from service with the US Army and deployment to the Lebanon conflict. He worked 37 years as a land surveyor and manager for Columbia Coal and Gas in Ashland, KY.

Franklin is survived by his wife of 64 years, Norma Jean King of Floral City, FL and his two children, Robin King-Thiele (Robert) of Surf City, NC, and Franklin "Hank" King II (Nancy) of Knoxville, TN.  Franklin has 3 grandchildren, Ryan Thiele of Wilmington, NC, Erika King-Paxton (Connor) of Knoxville TN, and Grant King of Knoxville, TN.

He and Norma have lived many places and have made many wonderful friends.  He was blessed with many nephews, nieces, and friends in West Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Florida. He was a collector and tinkerer and will be missed by all who knew him.
