JACKSONVILLE - Helen Wentz Coleman, 89, of Jacksonville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, November 8, 2024. Helen was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant to God. Her life will be celebrated in a service at Jacksonville Church of God on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, November 12 from 6:00 until 8;00 PM at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the life of this remarkable woman who leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion.
Born to Lewie W. and Ludy Huff Wentz, she spent her life dedicated to her family, her church, and her community.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald James Coleman; her cherished daughter, Julie Ann Smith; and her dear brothers, Maurice and William S. Wentz.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and faith through her surviving children: daughters Andrea Jones and Donna Reed, and son Jim Coleman. Her legacy continues in her grandchildren: Justin Sanderson (Jenny), Wesley Long (Kristian), Stephen Casey, Ben Casey, Megan Phelps (Vince), Jesse Jones (Taylor), Heidi Peoples, and Helen Jones. Helen was also blessed with 19 great-grandchildren, all of whom she treasured deeply.
A devout member of Jacksonville Church of God for over 50 years, Helen was known as the "mother of the church," touching countless lives through her gentle spirit, kindness, and unwavering faith. She will be remembered for her commitment to God, her selfless service, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her.
