Herbert Allen (Whitey) Sanders, 95 passed away peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at his home.  He retired from Civil Service and helped start the Haws Run Fire and Rescue Squad and drove a Trailsway bus for years.  He was an active member of Calvary Free Will Baptist Church.  Preceded in death by his parents; John and Emma Hines Sanders, four brothers, Franklin, Shepard, Cooter, and Kenneth Sanders and two sisters, Vera Henderson and Mary Allen.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 11:00 am from Calvary Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Henry Potter officiating. Burial will follow with military flag honors at Rawls Family Cemetery on Haws Run Road.  The family will receive family and friends, 1 hour prior to service.

Survivors include the love of his life, his wife of 72 years; Shirley Parker Sanders, Daughter; Pamela Sanders Lanier, son; Gregory Allen Sanders (Debbie), grandchildren; April Williams (Jonathan), Mitchell Sanders (Angela), Michael Nowell (April), Amy Nowell (Michael), Kayla Johnson (Tyler) and Dustin Williams.  Twelve great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude's Hospital or a charity of your choice.
