JACKSONVILLE  -  James "Jimmy" Edward Cotter, 59, of Jacksonville, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023 at his home.

Jimmy's family will welcome visitors to celebrate his life on Sunday, December 17, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 PM at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel.

Jimmy was born and raised in Onslow County and graduated from Southwest High School in 1983. He spent his career as an electrician both working for his older brother and owning his own business. Jimmy will be remembered for his willingness to give and have an open door for hosting those less fortunate than himself.  Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rita Cotter; brother, Richard Cotter, and children, Veronica Hilton and Jeremiah Hilton.

Survivors include his children, Jason Howard, Michael McGarr, Mariah Hilton, and Joseph Hilton; siblings, David Cotter, Robert Cotter, Steven Cotter, Anna Cotter, and Thomas Cotter; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
