Maysville – James Michael Deglau, 71, passed away Saturday September 6, 2025 at his home.

A funeral to celebrate James' life will be 2:00 PM on Wednesday September 10, 2025 at Grants Creek Baptist Church and will be buried at the Riggs Family Cemetery. The family will receive visitors immediately before the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the church.

James was born in Newport, RI. His father's military career brought him Eastern North Carolina and at 18 he decided to stay and make it his permanent home. He was a welder his entire career until he retired in 2016. He spent most of his retirement taking care of his yard, garden, and dog.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Suzanne Deglau; and brother, John Deglau. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Jessie Riggs Deglau; daughter, Jennifer Deglau; brother, Donald Deglau; and sister, Susan Pember.
