Jacksonville – James Laurence Brown, 73, of Jacksonville, North Carolina passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, at Carolina Rivers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. There will be no services at this time.

Jay was born on August 2, 1952, in Onslow County, North Carolina to the late Parker Nelson Brown and Doris Stallings Brown.

Jay worked as a radio host for 25 years and later retired from MCCS as an Administrative Assistant.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Jan Herritage Brown; daughter, Carrie Brown Held (Nick) of Columbus, OH; and his brother, Don Raymond Brown of Baton Rouge, LA.
