James, Robert Murray, Sr., affectionately known as Jim or Jimmy, was born on January 7, 1950 and passed peacefully on May 17, 2023. He is predeceased in death by his father C. F. "Rex" Murray and mother Lib Murray of Hampstead; son James R. Murray, Jr.; nephew. Nicholas Murray; and niece, Tanya Murray.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Murray; his daughter, Jaimee Cappelletti, son-in-law, Don Cappelletti, and grandchildren Lily and Dean Cappelletti; brothers, George, Tony, and John Murray; sisters, Diane Cressman, Sue Strickland , and Debra Kellum; and many nieces and nephews.

Jimmy was a proud and simple man, worked in construction all his life and helped build many of the homes on topsail Island. He attended topsail high school where he found his love for baseball and played off-season for the Sloop Point Cardinals. Many Knew him as Elvis, as a karaoke DJ, or could find him dancing at the Moose Lodge on a Saturday night .

A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, 2pm at Jones Funeral Home in Holly Ridge. All family and visitors are welcome to attend in casual dress. Please feel free to share a memory or funny story of Jimmy that touches your heart.
