James Rollo Rhodes, 82 passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington NC. Born October 6, 1943 to James Soloman Rhodes and Eva Hamilton Rhodes, in Onslow County which precedes him in death, also preceding is his wife; Wanda Sue Wells Rhodes, His son; Steven James Rhodes, His brothers Theodore Stanley Rhodes, Kenneth Lee Rhodes, Gary Boone and a cousin; Teddy Pickett.

James served active duty from 1961-1966 for his country in the United States Navy serving in Vietnam, and then retired as a commercial fisherman / shrimper.

Graveside Services will be held on October 22, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, SC along side his wife whom is buried there with military honors.

A Celebration of life will be held at his Home in Jacksonville NC on October 24th 2026 at 2 pm. with Family and Friends.

Survivors include his daughters Kimberly Mensik (Shane) Tulalip WA, Sandy Sluder (Jeff) and Vicky Lewis, both of Texas. Son Kevin Rhodes (Ginger) of Bonnie Lake, WA., Grandchildren; Misty, Jimmy, Dustin, Dana, Chase, Eric, Taylor, John, Wesley, and Kayla, also 10 Great Grandchildren. Sisters; Joyce Rhodes Brunner of Clayton, NC, and Mary Rhodes Kane (Robert) of Newport News, Va., Rachel Kennedy Raleigh, NC, and his brother; Rex Rhodes of Jacksonville NC, also Daughter in law; Doreen Rhodes of Beaufort, SC, and Sister in law; Barbara Rhodes of Jacksonville, NC, and several nieces and nephews that he adored.
