CAPE CARTERET  -  James Bryant Smith, Jr., 62, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 4, 2020 with his family by his side.  He was born April 29, 1958 in Washington, NC son of the late, James Bryant Smith, Sr. and Nell Winfield Smith.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 9:00 AM at the corner of Main and Park Avenue on the Town Commons in Tarboro.  The family will receive friends following the service.

Mr. Smith loved his family above all else and loved the time he was able to spend with them.  His favorite way of doing this was spending time on the boat.  He was a friend and a father figure to most everyone he met.  He will always be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by father-in-law, Elbert Lee Stocks.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanie Smith of the home; daughters, Alice Winfield Everette (Joseph Brian) of Sugar Grove, NC and Elizabeth Smith Owens (Payton Berry) of Tarboro; granddaughter, Julia Marie Everette; mother-in-law, Hattie Elizabeth Bailey Stocks of Tarboro.
