SWANSBORO  -  James Iredell Toomer, Jr., 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Crystal Coast Hospice in Newport, NC.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James, Sr. and Edna Earl Littleton Toomer, his son-in-law, Edward Felts, Jr., his sister-in-law, Cheryl Toomer, and grandchild Ashley James.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Katie Humphrey Toomer. He leaves behind his daughters, Tamala Felts, Rebecca James and her husband John, Sharon Rhue and her husband Allen, all residing in Hubert, NC, and Karen Young and her husband Mark of Cedar Point, NC. His son, Edward Toomer and his wife Raelene, also reside in Hubert, NC. James is also survived by his brother, Timothy Toomer of Mount Clemens, Michigan, as well as 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
