James Vall VanWinkle (87) passed May 27, 2025, at Onslow Memorial Hospital. James was born June 24th, 1937, in San Francisco, California to the late Kathleen and Albert VanWinkle. In life James dedicated himself to his successful career as an engineer in the United States Marine Corps, retiring after 22 years of honorable service. He is proceeded in death by his first wife; Elizabeth Whaley VanWinkle, second wife Jewel Taylor VanWinkle, and son James Michael VanWinkle. He leaves behind his sisters; Patricia Whaley, and Susan Tregoning. He also leaves behind his Stepdaughter Lisa Taylor Howard and stepson Percy Taylor.

A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, June 5th at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Visitation starting at 10:30 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:30, concluding with a graveside at Onslow Memorial Park at 1:00 pm.
