Janice Carol Padgett, of Jacksonville, NC, went to be with her Heavenly Father on February 16, 2022, with her family at her bedside. She was 78 years old.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Clemeth and Effla Jones; two brothers, Horace Jones and Garland Jones; two sisters, Opal Gray and Libby Kornegay; and two grandsons, Matthew and Andrew Padgett.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Sheila Carol Padgett (Danny); her son, Thomas Padgett (Christy); sisters, Doris J. Blake (Jack) and Shelby Cayton (Harvey); brothers, Terry Jones (Fay), Paul Jones (Beverly), Casey Jones, and Mark Jones (Tina). She also left behind many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

Though Carol held many different jobs during her lifetime, she enjoyed the 30 years she spent working at Moore Buick the most. She loved her co-workers and customers, who really spoiled her by always bringing her lunch and special goodies.

Carol also loved going shopping and eating out with her sisters, and she loved reading, as well as computer games. She especially enjoyed preparing Christmas Dinner for her family, which she did for many years.

A celebration of her life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 18, at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Committal will follow at Barlow Vista Baptist Church Cemetery, 22340 Hwy 17 North in Hampstead, NC. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. The family is gathering and receiving food at 126 Padgett Road in Maple Hill, NC.
