JACKSONVILLE - Billie (Jeanne) Jackson-93
Born on November 28, 1931, in Lillington NC to Hugh S Vann and Pauline Baggett Vann.
At the age of nine, Jeanne lost her mother and then she and her siblings moved to the Vann home place where they lived with their Grandmother Portia Vann, and her Uncle and Aunt John and Parker Thornton. On August 10, 1952, she met the love of her life Byron Ray Jackson Sr. She then went to UNC-G and later to Duke University. Mrs. Jackson worked in Civil Service at Camp Lejeune where she served as an administrative assistant to five Commanding Generals before retiring in 1987.
Jeanne is survived by her beloved son, Byron R Jackson Jr. of Jacksonville and several nephews and nieces. She is also survived by her sister-in-law; Willa Dean Richardson and her daughters Donna and Dana Tomlinson, Lisa and Paul Groves all who reside in Virgina; Niece, Mary Jo and Hugh Carr of Clinton NC; Steve and Delores Williams also of Clinton NC; Carolyn Jackson and son Marshall and Deandra Jackson of Washington DC.
In addition to her parents Jeanne was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Jeanne Jackson who died after childbirth, one sister, JoAnne Williams and her husband Joseph, two brothers, Hugh S Vann Jr. and Paul Baggett Vann, Brother-in-Law, Max Jackson and wife Agnes Hardison Jackson, and Brother-in-law, James E Jackson.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Robert's Grove OFWB Church Cemetery in Dunn, NC
