JACKSONVILLE - Jere William Yost Sr., 89, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026 in Jacksonville, NC.

Jere’s funeral will be 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Jacksonville. The family will receive visitors immediately before the service at the church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Jere will be laid to rest with military honors at the Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery immediately following the funeral.

Jere honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps for over 20 years before his retirement at the rank of Captain. He was also a member of the Lafayette Masonic Lodge No. 83 A.F. & A.M., the Onslow Shrine Club, and the New Bern Scottish Rite

Jere was preceded in death by his parents, Mervin and Dorothy Yost; and his two siblings, Bruce Yost and Charlotte Moyer.

Jere is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Barbara Moyer Yost, children, Jere Yost, Jr. (Angie) of Cary and Brenda Stanley (Michael) of Clover, VA; grandchildren, Derek Wilbur (Alyssa), Dale Stanley (Allicia), and Alicia Scherich (Chris); as well as 7 great-grandchildren.
