Jimmy
Bostic
June 20, 1953 – August 10, 2020
James "Jimmy" Norman Bostic, Jr. 67, formerly of Jacksonville died Monday, August 10, 2020 at Onslow Memorial Hospital.
Jimmy was born in Jacksonville and was the son of the late James Norman Bostic and Gertrude Miller Bostic Roebuck. Jimmy is survived by two sons, James Sheldon Bostic and wife Algah of Franklinton, and Jason Christopher Bostic and wife Melanie of Boerne, Texas. Jimmy adored his four grandchildren, Meredith Walrod and husband Hal of Creedmoor, Hillary Preddy of Wake Forest, and Walter James Bostic (age 10) and Arthur Sheldon Bostic (age 9) of Boerne, Texas.
Jimmy deeply loved his significant other Jut'e Bingham of Fuquay-Varina, her two sons Zachary and Kyle, and her grandchildren Easton and Harper. Jimmy remained close with his former wife, Joan Mercer Bostic, and mother-in-law Faye Mercer Marsh of Jacksonville, and the entire Mercer family.
Jimmy loved people and took pride in his work as a mortgage broker and loan officer, helping hundreds of people buy or refinance homes over the years.
Jimmy graduated from Jacksonville Senior High School in 1971 and from Coastal Carolina Community College in 1974 with an Associate Degree in Accounting and Business Management.
Always having a passion for sports, Jimmy played football at JHS and later coached youth football. When his son Jamie brought home a library book about soccer, "Coach Bostic" learned the sport and became a long-time soccer coach for rec teams and his beloved 75 Cards. He later coached a few years for Jacksonville Middle School.
Jimmy loved beach music, dancing the shag and anything to do with the water. He also loved his Eastern North Carolina barbeque and was often requested to cook pigs for family, friends and customers.
Having never met a stranger, Jimmy selflessly loved others and maintained lifelong friendships with ease. His faith in Jesus guided his life, and his family and grandchildren filled his heart. Jimmy will be dearly missed by everyone whose life he touched.
A Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at noon at Jones Funeral Home Chapel, Jacksonville with Reverend Phil Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Onslow Memorial Park.
