Jimmy D Kellum, 85, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 24th, 2026, at 1:30 PM at Baysden Chapel with Pastor David Jarman officiating. The burial will take place at Onslow Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Jimmy lived 85 very blessed and healthy years. Jimmy joined the Army National Guard in 1959 to get started in life serving his country becoming their “sharp shooter” recipient and then moved on to being what everyone in Onslow County knew as “bulldozer man” running heavy equipment for 60 years. One month after his 85th birthday he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and fought it for 3 months. His hard fight gave him the opportunity to meet his second great grandchild, a wonderful time while smiling and playing with him. Mr. Jimmy was a humble, kind, hardworking man that put the needs of GOD, his family and others above his own. He deeply loved his family always putting them first and loved time spent with them. When not working and piddling on his many projects & getting greasy doing it, he loved to get clean shaved, hair just right, shoes shinned, pants and shirt ironed and putting on his original green Polo cologne that Pam nicknamed “bug spray” to spend time with Pam and family. Whether going out to eat, coming to meet everyone at family gatherings, going to church, just about anything you can imagine outside of work, Mr. Jimmy would always look “just right”! He loved to spend time on the water flounder gigging and trout fishing, nothing beat catching a “slab” or a big “hog”. Mr. Jimmy helped many people in many ways through out his entire life. He valued a person’s character, honesty and integrity over their worldly possessions and success. He had strong beliefs and would stand strong behind them and defend them when required. While Mr. Jimmy may not be on this earth anymore, his legacy and sprit is all around each of us, and he would want us to rejoice and remember one of Jesus’s promises: And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die”. Mr. Jimmy was greeted in heaven by his lovely wife Peggy, his wonderful son Doug, his pride and joy first born grandson Tyler, and lots of friends. Mr. Jimmy is free from earthly pain and is walking with angels. He loves us all… The family would like to thank the wonderful people of Lower Cape Fear hospice for the care and support of Mr. Jimmy and the family.

Mr. Jimmy is survived by his daughter Pam Johnson (Gary), his brother Bobby Kellum, granddaughter Katie Rose, grandson Douglas Kellum, great-grandson Merritt Tyler Hawkins, and great-granddaughter Ellia Nicok Martin.
