SNEADS FERRY N.C. – Joe Daniel Melton Sr. 88, was born on January 1, 1937, in Newport News, VA and died on September 8, 2025, at Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center in Wilmington, NC.  A funeral service is planned for 11:00AM Monday September 15, 2025, at Salem Baptist Church in Sneads Ferry, N.C. with Rev. Andrew Hise and Rev. Sandy Bain officiating. Burial will follow at Sea Lawn Memorial Park, US route 17, Hampstead, NC.

Mr. Joe was highly loved and cherished by all his family.  He was a devoted husband, caring father and grandfather. He served in the United States Navy and was devoted to his call to service for his country. Later, he worked for many years in Manufacturing. Starting as a mechanic and working his way up to supervisor positions.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife Katherine Ann McCrone Melton, his parents, Raymond Joseph Melton and Ila Edens, two brothers, Clarence Melton and Alvin Melton and a sister, Patricia Hall.

Also, Joe is survived by a daughter Kathy Jean Nunnally, one son, Joe Daniel Melton Jr., four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren of VA , two brothers Raymond J. Melton Jr (Bill) of FL., Lloyd Melton (Mullet) of FL. and two sisters, Joyce Makela of NV., Barbara Ikner of N.C.

A visitation is planned Monday one hour prior to the funeral service at Salem Baptist Church.
