JACKSONVILLE  -  Joel Chandler Petteway, Sr., 86, of Jacksonville, North Carolina passed away on August 11, 2025 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 1522 Burgaw Hwy Jacksonville, NC 28540,  with burial with military honors to follow at Onslow Memorial Park.

Joel was born on October 31, 1938 in Duplin County, North Carolina. He is preceded in death by his father, William Petteway; birth mother, Eva Petteway and mother/grandmother, Jenny Petteway and his beloved wife, Quinda Faye.

He is survived by his sons, Joel Petteway (Gloria) and Wayne Petteway (Wendy); grandchildren, Robert Petteway and Caitlyn Noel Petteway; cousins, Belinda Riddle, Lillian Riddle Fimple, and Debbie Riddle Bell.

The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.
