John Henry Fitzsimmons passed away at home on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 81.

He is survived by his loving wife, Diane, sister Emma, sons Jon and Patrick, and three grandchildren, Allie, Ethan, and Thomas.

John was born in San Juan, PR, on May 7, 1943, to John H Fitzsimmons and Marie E L Goble Y Vizcarrondo. He graduated from St. Thomas Catholic Academy in 1962.

John's unwavering dedication to his country was evident in his service. He proudly served in the Marine Corps from February 1963 to 1970, spending six years overseas in combat, including two tours during the Vietnam War. His bravery led him to re-enlist, and he retired from the Army in 1987, having served 25 years as a Sergeant First Class to the United States of America.

Although a man of few words, he never missed an opportunity to make those around him smile and laugh. He will be greatly missed.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, April 22, at 10:00 a.m.
