JACKSONVILLE  -  John Patrick Heffernan, 85, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Onslow Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at Onslow Memorial Park.

He was born October 19,1936, in New York, NY to the late, Joseph and Margaret Heffernan.

Mr. Heffernan faithfully served his country in the US Marine Corp where he served two tours of Vietnam and later retired as GySgt.  He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Nascar fan.  He usually could be found at the Bowl Arena where he loved bowling.  He loved working in his yard taking care of his flowers and in his shop building and playing with his trains.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Vicki Heffernan of Jacksonville; his son, John V Heffernan of Jacksonville; daughter, Frances Heffernan Pierce of Jacksonville; son, Daniel Heffernan and his wife, Cindy of Live Oak, FL; grandchildren, Julianna Pierce Bell of Jacksonville, Dakota Pierce of Jacksonville, Sean Heffernan of Richlands, Morgan Heffernan of Chape Hill, Victor Heffernan of Swansboro, Taylor O'Conney and wife, Stonee of High Springs, Fl and Noah O'Conney and his wife, Jaylin  Ft. White, FL, Hannah Heffernan of Live Oak, FL; and great-grandchildren, Kaliyah Bell of Jacksonville, Maverick Bell of Jacksonville and Elliot O'Conney of High Springs.
