HOLLY RIDGE  -  John D. Parrish Sr., 96, of Holly Ridge, went to be with the Lord, Monday, February 3, 2025, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Folkstone Freewill Baptist Church.  Burial will follow at the Turkey Creek Cemetery.

Mr. Parrish was preceded in death by his wife, Louetta Parrish; son, John Parrish, Jr; daughter, Ginger Allen; stepson, Richard Wilt; parents, Rutherford Sylvester and Clara Wooten Parrish; and many brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca (Gary) Jones Anderson; grandchildren, Richard "Thomas" Jr and Kia (Andrew) Hardison; twelve grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

He loved the water. Gator Bay, Stump Sound, and Turkey Creek were his favorite spots for fishing, clamming, and oystering. He was quite proud of his garden. He grew vegetables and gorgeous flowers. He was a strong and devout Christian man. He was a sweetheart to everyone he met.

The family will receive friends before the service from 11:30 to 1:00 PM at Folkstone Freewill Baptist Church.
