Hubert- John Robert Carney, 74, passed away April 25, 2026, at Onslow Memorial Hospital. He was born May 15, 1951, in Onslow County, NC, a son of the late Albert Roy and Julie Burns Carney.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Tony Lominac officiating.

John was one of the most easygoing people you could meet. He faced life with a positive attitude and was always ready to help others. In his younger years, he worked for Black Lumber Supply (now Community Lumber), and later worked with Jimmy Phillips at Clyde Phillips Seafood Market, fishing and shrimping. He loved the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his sister, Sarah "Sue" Murphy (Wayne) of Jacksonville; several nieces and nephews; and his special cats, Squiker and Blue Boy.
