Johnnie Stevens
King
Mar 28, 1949 — Nov 30, 2023
JACKSONVILLE - Johnnie Stevens King passed away on November 30, 2023.
Steve was born on March 28, 1949, to Wayne King, Sr. and Evelyn King whom he was preceded in death by. He spent the majority of his life in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Steve worked at Carolina Telephone for 40+ years where he made lifelong friends and remained close with many after retirement. While in retirement, he enjoyed life to the fullest with his family, friends and the great outdoors.
He is survived by Judy King, his wife of 48 years; children Stevie King, Erica Bailey, Matthew King and Jonathan King; his grandchildren Parker and Emerson Bailey; and his best friend and brother Wayne King (Becky); and his nieces Natalie, Leslie and Heather.
Steve had friends that spanned from his elementary school days to his current beloved hunting club. He loved every one of them as deeply as we all loved him. His smile was contagious and he could light up any room. Steve never met a stranger because he would spark up a conversation with anyone he came across. His stories (and he had plenty) could go for days and produce laughter from deep inside. Whether his stories were true or not they were enjoyed by anyone who would listen. Steve had a heart of gold. He was simply easy to love and he lived life to the absolute fullest on his terms.
Steve had a passion for the outdoors. We are blessed and thankful that is where he was for his final moments.
At Steve's request there will be no service. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later time.
The family wishes to thank all of his friends for their condolences, prayers and thoughts during this time. He is so deeply missed and has left a large hole in his family and friends hearts.
Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.
