Joseph Bernard Kogut, 97 of Swansboro, passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021 at 11:00 A.M.  at St. Mildred Catholic Church in Swansboro with the Monsignor Gerald Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville with full USMC honors.

Mr. Kogut is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Spencer Kogut, his three sons; Daniel Kogut, Dennis Kogut and Joseph Kogut and his parents, Stanislaw and Marie Manka Kogut;  four brothers, five sisters, one grandchild and son-in-law, Patrick Smith.

He is survived by his daughters, Rita Ross and her husband Daniel of Johnstown, PA; Eileen Young of Blasdell, NY, Karen Grant of Lackawanna, NY and Peggy Miller and her husband Johnnie of Swansboro; his son, Galen Kogut and his fiancé Sandy of Blasdell, NY; seventeen grandchildren and twenty eight great grandchildren; two daughter-in-laws, Linda Kogut and Shari Kogut.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the church.

Mr. Kogut's family has entrusted Jones Funeral Home of Swansboro to handle funeral arrangements.
