Obituary

JACKSONVILLE  -  Joyce Rabon DuPalevich, 80, of Jacksonville, departed this earthly world for her heavenly home on Saturday, December 21, 2024, following a vibrant and fulfilling life.  A Graveside Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Onslow Memorial Park.

Born on November 3, 1944, in Boone, NC, Mrs. DuPalevich was the daughter of the late Roy H. Rabon and Marjorie H. Rabon.

She approached life with an open heart and a warm spirit. She truly never met a stranger, building meaningful connections with people of all ages. Her generosity and compassion were reflected in her tireless dedication to volunteering, including calling Bingo at the Senior Center, delivering meals through Meals on Wheels, and bringing positivity to everyone around her. Joyce found immense joy in nature. She loved the ocean, spending hours walking along the beach, collecting seashells, and appreciating the serenity of the waves. At home, she took pride in her vibrant flower garden, where she often sat, finding peace while watching birds flit in and out. A devoted reader and lifelong learner, she also enjoyed PBS travel programs, delighting in the wonders of the world.

The love between Joyce and her husband, Phil, was undeniable. Their 59-year marriage was a testament to true partnership, filled with unwavering support, laughter, and affection. She adored their son, Paul, and celebrated his achievements with pride. Joyce's life was a shining example of devotion, grace, and love, touching everyone fortunate enough to know her. While Joyce's joyful presence will be deeply missed, her memory and spirit live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

We find solace in knowing she is at peace, reunited with her heavenly family. Joyce is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Philip Paul DuPalevich; her devoted son, Philip Paul DuPalevich Jr.; sister, Elizabeth R. Seaver; brothers, Jerry Lee Rabon (Carol), Larry Hubert Rabon and Freddie Joseph Rabon (Dawn); Roy H. Rabon (deceased). She will also be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 26, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
