JACKSONVILLE – Julia Helen Bynum Spangenberg, 94, passed away Monday, November 11, 2024 in Jacksonville, NC

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Onslow Memorial Park.

Mrs. Soangenburg was born and raised in Jacksonville where she dedicated her life to supporting Clifton as a Marine Corps wife and caring for their disabled girls at home. After her girls passed away, she continued caring for disabled children at Carobell Children's Home.  Her grandchildren came and went through Nana's loving and nurturing home, staying close even into their teenage years. She knew no strangers and opened her home and heart to anyone who "came in peace". She was a church member and attended Kellum Baptist, Centerview, and Primitive Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 50 years, Clifton Spangenberg; her parents, Thadeus Wesley and Julia Littleton Bynum; brother, Gordon Bynum; children, Judy Spangenberg, Vivian Ann Spangenberg, and Rick Spangenberg; and grandchildren, BreeAnn Spangenberg and Ryan Spangenberg.

Survivors include her grandchild, Brannon Spangenberg; daughter-in-law, Debra Spangenberg; and great-grandchildren, Kierstynn, Gavin, Brooklynn, Nolan, and Finn.

Mama… Nana.. You have left us so many wonderful memories. We love and miss you.
