Cape Carteret- June Paul Ritchie, 99, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Carteret Health Care in Morehead City, NC. She was born April 2, 1926, in White Plains, NY daughter of John and Edith Haley Paul.
A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 12:00pm at St. Mildred Catholic Church with Father Marlon Mendieta officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00pm at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 6-8pm at Jones Funeral Home-Swansboro.
June was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was a woman of enduring faith putting her faith and family first. She was a co-owner and partner in the family business with her husband, George, with Ritchie Royal Accessories. She loved music and taught music; she was the first female drum major at Syracuse University, where she earned a BA in music in 1947. She was a very active member in the parish of St. Mildred Catholic Church for over forty years and was a religious education teacher. She worked as a Tribunal Advocate for the Diocese of Raleigh for over twenty-five years and also served on the Cape Carteret Town Planning board for twenty-five years. She was an avid golfer, bridge player and lover of the outdoors.
She is survived by her children: Susan R. Pinch (Jerry) of Cape Carteret, John Paul Ritchie (Diane) of Cape Carteret, George Jeffrey Ritchie (Madeline) of Syracuse, NY, Thomas Edwin Ritchie (Jennifer) of Newnan, GA, and Michael Francis Ritchie of Cape Carteret; fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband (of sixty-seven years) and the love of her life, George John Ritchie and her brother and sister-in-law, Edwin H. and Judy P. Paul.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Mildred Catholic Church, Building Fund, 653 Old Hammock Rd, Swansboro, NC 28584 or to the Coastal Pregnancy Care Center, 409 N. 35th Street, Morehead City, NC 28557.
