JACKSONVILLE  -  With deep love and sorrow, the family of Karen Sue (Hartley) Towner announces her passing on January 6, 2026. Born on May 20, 1944, in Elwood, Indiana, Karen lived a life filled with warmth, generosity, and unwavering devotion to the people she loved.

Graveside funeral services for Karen will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at the Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.

Karen is survived by her husband, Richard, who was her partner for 60 years, through a lifetime of memories and milestones. She leaves behind her sons, Richard (Rick) and Michael (Mike), who will forever carry her guidance and love in their hearts. Karen also cherished her daughters-in-law, Mary, and Donna, embracing them as family. Among her greatest joys were her granddaughters, Savannah and Lillian, and her great-grandson, Adam, all of whom brought light and happiness to her.

Karen will be remembered for her spirit, her kindness, and the quiet strength she shared with all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the love she gave freely, and the memories that will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved her.

She will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the National Alzheimer's Association.
