JACKSONVILLE - Mrs. Katherine (Kathy) Smith Cook, 94, of Jacksonville, died Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Onslow Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Enon Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Kelley, Senior Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Onslow Memorial Park.
Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her parents, Edd Lee Smith and Josephine Brown Smith; her husband, Albert Cook, Jr.; and her son, Albert Charles Cook; brothers, Daniel Smith, Hubert Smith, Ralph Smith and Samuel Smith.
Survivors include her daughters, Jan C. Carter (and her husband James) of Jacksonville and Lorelei "Lori" Allen of Walkertown, NC; her brother, Roosevelt Smith (and his wife, Patricia) of Burgaw, NC; her sister, Mrs. Carrie Lee Robbins of Castle Hayne; sister-in-law, Carol Smith of Chinquapin; her granddaughter, Kimberly "Kim" Pigott (and her husband, Brian) and great-grandson, of Kiln, MS; her grandson Christopher "Chris" Allen; and two great-grandchildren, of Walkertown, NC; granddaughter, Kristina "Kristy" Wheeless (and husband, Joshua) and four great-grandchildren of Holly Springs, NC.
Mrs. Cook was a lifetime member of Enon Chapel Baptist Church. She loved to cook, work in the garden, and help others. Her past organization memberships included Meadowview ECA, Chapter 795 of local chapter of AARP; the Onslow Prime Chapter of the American Business Women's Association; the Senior Citizen Senior Expo; the El Rio Nuevo Chapter of the American Business Women's Association (Jacksonville Charter Chapter); the Camp Lejeune Dependents' School Food Service. She also volunteered at the Onslow Community Outreach Soup Kitchen (May 2011). Mrs. Cook worked 12+ years in schools in the nutrition program and at one time was the owner her own restaurant Cooks' Diner & Ice Cream, Midway Park, NC. Mrs. Cook loved to sell her own homemade jams and jellies at the local Onslow County Farmers Market.
The family will receive friends Monday evening, March 17, 2025 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel.
Flowers are welcome.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude for all the kindness and support offered during this difficult time of loss to everyone in which you both have touched each other's lives. She will be greatly missed.
