Katherine Baker
Medlin
January 3, 1944 – June 21, 2025
Katherine B. Medlin, at the age of 81, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Novant Medical Center in Wilmington. She was with family and passed peacefully. She was preceded in death by husband, Bobby Medlin, her parents Gilbert and Lucy Baker, three sisters, and four brothers.
She is survived by her son Neil Medlin and his partner Colleen Bockhahn of Clayton, North Carolina, daughter Lynne Fearns of Oxford, North Carolina, grandsons Jason and Adam Corbett, and her brother Herman Baker and his wife Anka of Venice Florida.
Kathy was a deeply religious person, devoted to the Lord. She was a selfless and deeply caring mother and always put the needs of her family first. Kathy was a pillar of strength and love for her family, always offering a listening ear, a warm embrace, and unwavering support. All family was important to her and family reunions always brought her great joy. Upon their arrival her two grandsons became her focus, and nothing made her happier than being "Grandma" to them. Kathy's close friends were also family to her, and she was blessed with friends who cared for her and were always there to support her and lend a hand. They shared life and adventures together (including some "wild" New Year's Eve gatherings) and brought Kathy immense comfort.
After being a full-time mother and creating a home in the house she lived in when her children were young, Kathy entered the workforce for nearly 30 years. Her hard work and attention to detail helped her advance take on more responsibility in her roles at work through those years. When she had and actually took time for herself, she enjoyed being outside and working in her yard. Flowering plants of almost all types were her favorites and roses were at the top of her list. The bigger and showier the blooms the better. It was the same with birds; the showier, the better. While she enjoyed a wide variety of them, cardinals were her favorite. A perfect day to her was spent in her yard tending her plants and watching the birds.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 28th, 2025 at 3:00 pm at the Holly Ridge Church of God with Reverend Steve Dupree officiating.
Kathy lived life with all the energy she had, kindness and compassion she possessed, and always had a spark that brought light to those around her. She will be remembered for her giving and generous spirit. Her legacy will live on in her family, her friends, and all the lives she touched.
