Katy Rose Gordon Hiatt, 84, passed away on October 20, 2025, at her residence in Swansboro, NC. A memorial service will be held on July 14th, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Jones Funeral Home in Swansboro.

Katy was born in Holly Springs, NC to her parents Robert and Ina Gordon. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education, Katy embarked on a career in business education. She earned a Master of Science in Business Education from UNC-Greensboro in 1978, which helped her to better serve students of North Carolina, which she with distinction for 40 years. After moving to Swansboro in 1994, she finished her work with the state of North Carolina at Croatan High School, retiring in 2003.

Katy is preceded in death by her father, Rober Coach Gordon, and her mother Ina Robbins Gordon.

Katy is survived by her son Christopher Hiatt, of 409 S. Glancy St.
