Kenneth Bruce
Court
January 15, 1941 – October 19, 2025
Kenneth Bruce Court, 84, born in Detroit, Michigan, on January 15, 1941, passed away at his home on October 19, 2025. He was the beloved son of the late Kenneth and Isabell Court. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his dear wife of 48 years, Virginia Ruoss Court.
Ken served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He was proud to be a Marine and truly believed "once a Marine, always a Marine." Semper Fi! Following his years in the service, he was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for 34 years from which he retired in 1999. Although he had no formal training, he was a talented woodworker.
An avid outdoorsman, Ken enjoyed camping and kayaking. He loved spending time with his family and friends, whether it was having lunch with his children, touring a historical site with his grandchildren, attending a pool party with friends, or coloring with the great-grandchildren. He loved to travel to new places and saw most of the country by car or camper where he listened to his vast 60s and 70s music collection. Almost all stops included a tour of a pub where he would collect their t-shirt.
Ken was a calm and unassuming man with a quick sense of humor. He was also deeply conscientious, intensely thoughtful and thorough, kind, and caring. Ken was notoriously frugal with himself and graciously generous with others. If you had a conversation with him about a project you were considering, he would be up at all hours thinking through the various ways to achieve the goal and would help in any way he could.
Ken's greatest love was for his family. Dad/Pop Pop will be greatly missed and forever loved and remembered by his children, Lori Court Barrett (Brian), Steven Court (Tammy), Kristina Sessoms (Randy), and Wanda Jones (Frank); his grandchildren, Christopher Barrett (Elise), Nicholas Barrett (Jillian), Joshua Barrett, Morgan Barrett, Caleb Court, Scott Jones, and Chelsea Jones; four great-grandchildren, Greyson Barrett, Noah Barrett, Ayla Barrett, and Cora Mae Barrett; his brother, Gary Court (SueAnn), and his sister, Marilyn Mee (Richard). He also leaves behind many dear friends, especially those whom he lovingly referred to collectively as the "beer geezers."
His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family and friends. Ken did not want a service, he wanted everyone to remember him in their own way.
