Laura Elaine Horton Compton, 65, passed away Friday, June 19, 2026 at Onslow Medical Center in Jacksonville.

A celebration of Laura’s life will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday June 26, 2026 at Victory Baptist Church in Jacksonville. The family will receive visitors immediately before the service from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Laura will also have a memorial service 10:00 am on July 11, 2026 at Dresserville Bible Baptist Church in Moravia, NY. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery Preble,NY

Laura devoted her life as a nurse in the pursuit of helping others… and she was an avid crocheter.

Laura was preceded in death by her daughter, Elyssa Compton; her parents Carl and Rena Horton. She is survived by her devoted husband of almost 40 years, Kevin Compton; children, Elaine Compton of Jacksonville, Nathan Compton of Orlando, FL, and Matthew Compton (Tanya) of Milwaukee, WI; grandchildren, Eleanor Compton, Aurora Compton, and Cora Compton; siblings, Dena Maiorana(Sal) of Pennsylvania, Melissa Hansen(Rick) of New York, Sanford Horton (Lisa) of New York, Linda Davis (Brandon) of New York; as well as many nieces and nephews.
