Bear Creek- Leland Ray "Sammy" Strain, Jr., 60, passed away Saturday, November 8,2025, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. He was born February 25,1965 in Onslow County, NC.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 10:30 am at Bear Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Lominac officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Sammy was a builder and loved to make things with his hands, but his greatest time was spent with his family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Leland "Ray" Strain, III of Bear Creek; mother, Judy Strain of Bear Creek; fiancé, Jennifer Haskell of the home; and sisters, Nancy Courie and Betty Smith both of Bear Creek.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leland Ray "Sam" Strain, Sr.
