Lillian Mamie Swaney Chaney, 99, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 3, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel. Burial will immediately follow at Onslow Memorial Park.

Lillian was born on October 27, 1926, in Duplin County, North Carolina to the late Joseph Swaney and Gertrude Albertson Swaney. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Vester Lewis Chaney; her siblings, Milo Swaney, Frank Swaney, Mary Lou Swaney; grandchild, Sean Chaney and great-grandchild, Rachael Bromley.

Survivors include her children; Linda Bell (Lester), Harriet Moore (Gary) and Tony Chaney.  Her grandchildren; Regina Weir (Jeffrey), Stephanie Kervin (Jason), Mason Douglas, Kevin Chaney (LeAshley) and Micki Marshburn.  Her great-grandchildren; Sarah Silamianos (Josh), Emma Kervin, Keagan Chaney, Triston Chaney.  Her great-great-granchildren; Hannah Silamianos, Emmett Coker, Roselyn Chaney, Lillian Chaney and Taylor Chaney.  Her Siblings; Ray Swaney and Patsy Raynor.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 2, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville.

The family would also like to thank the staff of Lower Cape Fear Hospice for the loving care they provided over these past weeks.
