Newport — Linda Kinard Guthrie, 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 6, 2026. She was born on August 27, 1947, in Jacksonville, Florida, the daughter of the late Mallie and Doris Kinard.

 A funeral service will be held Friday, September 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, with Rev. Jeremy Wakefield officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Linda was a beautician who loved serving her clients took great joy in the relationships she built throughout the years. But above all, Linda treasured being surrounded by her family and friends. Her greatest joy was the love she shared with those closest to her. Linda’s faith was the foundation of her life. She had placed her trust in Jesus and found comfort in knowing that her life and eternity were in His hands. Though her journey was not always easy, her faith carried her through many seasons of life. She now rests in the presence of the Savior she trusted, and her family finds comfort in the promise that this is not goodbye, but a temporary separation until they meet again.

She is survived by her husband, Perry Guthrie; her children, Tonya Grant (Kevin) of Lima, OH, and Bruce Pollock (Grace) of Trenton, NC; grandchildren, Amber Woolard, Justin Grant, Ashley Gordon, Sydney Jordan, Grayden Pollock, and Haley Pollock; great-grandchildren, Carley, Cayden, Cameron, Addison, Walt, and Charlotte; and siblings, Cindy Bortz and Butch Kinard.
