New Bern - Lindel Joy Jones, Jr., 78, of New Bern, North Carolina passed away on June 9, 2026, at Carolina East Medical Center. Graveside services with military honors will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

Mr. Jones proudly and honorably served 30 years in the United States Marine Corps, retiring as Master Gunnery Sergeant.

Lindel was born March 28, 1948, in Marysville, California to the late Lindel Jones, Sr. and Wanda Oldham Thrower. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife Thelma Jones; daughter, Kimberly Jones and brother’s Dennis Jones and Bob Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Jones; sister, Jackie Holiday; children; Lindel Jones III (Katherine), Robert Jones (Dawn), Jennifer Jones (Richard), and David Hall (Victoria); grandchildren, Marty Curtis Jones, Kandice Jones, Alexis Jones, Dalton Jones, Shelby Campana, Karina Jones, Summer Garvey, Luther Jones, Rhiannon Jones, James Tyler Jones, Evette Jones, Ethan Hall, Lane Burnett, Rylee Hall, Alice Hall and several family members and friends.
