VERONA  -  Lois Mohn Brown, 93, of Verona, was born November 26, 1931, in Jacksonville, and died Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday December 9, 2024 at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel with Rev. Mark Kennedy and Rev. Jim Asher officiating.  Burial will follow at Onslow Memorial Park.

Mrs. Brown will always be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.  She was well known for her love of baking and for many years she enjoyed creating beautiful wedding cakes and earned awards for entries in cake baking contests.  She took great joy in cooking large meals for her family and church events.  She also enjoyed watching birds at her many feeders, growing flowers and trips to her mountain home in Saluda, NC.  She loved the community of Verona and was a life-long member of the Verona Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald J. Brown; parents, Willie Owen Mohn and Teddie Padgett Mohn.  She was the oldest of five siblings: Diane Shepard, Carol Batchelor, Louise Graves, Billy Mohn, and Ronnie Mohn.

Survivors include her children, David Brown and his wife, Cathyof Beaufort, SC, Jeri Yvonne Pendergest of Verona; Phillip Brown and his wife, Deborah of Lexington, NC; grandchildren, Jamie Brown, Amanda Stuberg, Greg Brown, Emily Baker, Brandon Durbin; great-grandchildren, Chase Brown, Payton Stuberg, Bella Brown, Joseph and Jacob Brown, Charlie and Everett Baker, Salem and Marcella Stuberg.

The family will receive friends Monday afternoon, prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Verona Methodist Church or the Verona Volunteer Fire Department.
