Swansboro – Lois Ann Jones (age 87) passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, at The Landings of Swansboro, North Carolina. She was born May 4, 1937 in Trenton, New Jersey to Joseph Edward Walter Sr. and Elizabeth Anskus Walter. Lois's childhood and youth was spent with her loving parents, siblings, and extended family in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Lois enjoyed a rewarding career as head bookkeeper for a large woman-owned commercial electrical contractor in Pennsylvania, affiliated with Levittown, the first residential subdivision in the United States. She later resided in Yardley, PA, where she pursued her passion as an AKC Certified trainer and handler of countless award-winning AKC Champion dogs, and AKC Certified therapy dogs, including her beloved "Doc." She also won National Awards for her distinctive Champion coy fish that she raised in her beautiful coy ponds. She married and relocated to Havana, Florida, where she enjoyed lakefront living, active volunteering with her beloved therapy dog Doc, her coy ponds, and active membership in the Havana Garden Club.
Lois was preceded in death by her loving parents, J. Edward Walter Sr. & Elizabeth A Walter, her husband, Richard Lippincott Jones, her loving sister & best friend Joan Elizabeth Walter-Gerichten, her loving brother J. Edward Walter Jr., and her beloved nephew and Godson, David Walter Gerichten. Survivior include her loving brother Thomas L. Walter (wife Janet), her beloved niece, Karen Gerichten-Salefsky (husband Larry), loving nephews William S. Gerichten II (wife Anne), and Glenn E Gerichten (wife Kandy), Thomas Scott Walter, and many other loving Great-nieces and Great-nephews.
With Lois's lifelong love of dogs, in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her memory to the ASPCA or your local animal shelter.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, March 20th at Infant of Prague Catholic Church in Jacksonville, NC at 10:00 am. Prior to the Mass, the Family will receive friends from 9:00 am to 9:45 am at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville, NC.
