Louis James Maida "Louie" passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 11, 2025, at the age of 61.

Graveside Service will be Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery at 10:00 AM with military honors.

Louie was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joseph Maida and Catherine Zazzarino; and maternal grandparents, Libro Anthony Cerasi, Grace "Cherry" Perrino and Jack Buccafurno.

He is survived by his loving wife Kim; daughter Leanne and husband Erik, son Joey and wife Molly; five grandchildren, Daniel, Maddison, Nicholas, Mila, and Vivian; two brothers, Joey and Tony, and his parents Louie and Bella.

Louie began his career as an aviator in the United States Marine Corps, flying CH-46 aircraft. He completed 10 deployments while on active duty and retired as a major with 20 years of service. Following his time in the Marine Corps, he assumed duties as the Deputy Command Inspector General of Marine Corps Installations East until his passing.

Louie and Kim were married in Herkimer New York in 1989. They had two amazing children and five perfect grandchildren, whom he loved very much. He cherished the time spent with his family. He was a witty, fun and energetic grandpa, creating happy memories that they will always cherish.

Louie had a deep relationship with God and continually sought to strengthen his faith. He truly was the Lord's servant, kind and generous. He could make anyone feel special. He was thoughtful and always took care of those he loved.

Just like Louie's 3-year-old granddaughter Mila said, "Grandpa is in the sky with Jesus now"

He will be missed by many.
