Jacksonville – Lucille McAleer Overington, 96, of Jacksonville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 3, 2025. She entered this world on June 8, 1928, in New York, New York.
A visitation will be held at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 12:00 PM to be followed by a funeral service in the Chapel at 1:00 PM. After that, a graveside service is scheduled for 2:00PM Friday at the Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.
Lucille will long be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will also be remembered as an esteemed colleague at elementary schools in Jacksonville and Camp Lejeune.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband Richard Overington, her father, Raymond McAleer, her mother, Charlotte Prinz; and her sons David, Kevin, and Craig.
Lucille is survived by her children: Lee Overington (Apex), Lori Overington (Raleigh), Keith Overington (Jacksonville), Curt Overington (Roanoke) and Sean Overington (Raleigh); her grandchildren: Aaron Overington (Durham), Brian Overington (Durham), Allison Overington (Durham), Justin Overington (Durham), Evan Overington (Durham), Amy Pridmore (St. Louis), Michelle Overington (Durham), Brian Overington (CA) and Ian Overington (Roanoke); and her great-grandchildren: Liam Overington (Sanford), Filomena Overington (Durham), Esme Overington (Durham), Lydia Pridmore (St. Louis) and Merritt Overington (Durham; along with her cherished caregiver of eight years, DiAnna Foster (Sneads Ferry).
